My current work depicts imagined scenes of massive figures in strange locations. They are paintings inspired by my dream journal. Not a journal really, more of a collection of doodles and phrases scribbled in the dark in the middle of the night. In the morning, I will remember the most recent part of the dream then allow it to return in reverse sequence. My dreams are usually in first person so I reset the scene as an observer, referencing my favorite images from art history. The paintings are contemporary with a whiff of nostalgia. They are real and surreal, fact and fabrication. They are imagined interpretations of the central part of the human experience that often visit in our dreams.
